Training at Amara

At Amara every performer’s journey is different. Students can train through specialist Trinity Musical theatre tuition, develop their skills as part of our Junior or Senior musical theatre groups or combine both for a more rounded training experience.

From building confidence and discovering a love of performing to developing advanced skills and working towards graded qualifications and performance opportunities, training is designed to help every student progress at their own pace.

Trinity Musical Theatre

Individual and paired tuition tailored to each performer, developing skills in acting, singing and movement while working towards graded musical theatre exams. Higher level grades can also provide UCAS points and may support future applications to universities, colleges and further training.

What to expect:
Students work individually or in carefully matched pairs, developing a programme suited to their age, ability and goals. Sessions combine acting, singing and movement, with repertoire selected to showcase each performer’s strengths while developing confidence, technique and performance skills.

Trinity Qualifications
Students have the opportunity to work towards graded Trinity Musical Theatre examinations, progressing from initial grades through to advanced levels. Exams allow performers to gain recognised qualifications while developing the skills, discipline and confidence that support their wider performance training.

Solo Tuition — 30 minutes
Paired Tuition — 45 minutes

Junior Musical Theatre

Ages 5–11
A fun and supportive introduction to musical theatre, giving young performers the opportunity to develop their skills in singing, acting and dance. Sessions are designed to build confidence, creativity and performance skills while encouraging every child to express themselves and enjoy being part of a group.

What to expect
Weekly sessions combine singing, acting, dance and performance through age-appropriate musical theatre material. Students will work both individually and as part of an ensemble, developing musicality, characterisation, movement, teamwork and stagecraft in an encouraging environment.

Performance & Opportunities
As the group develops, students will have opportunities to work towards performances and showcases, as well as take part in workshops, masterclasses and other special projects. The focus is not only on developing performance skills, but on giving young performers the confidence to get on stage, try new things and discover what they are capable of.

What to expect
Weekly sessions will explore ensemble singing, acting, dance, characterisation and performance technique using a wide range of musical theatre repertoire. Students will be encouraged to challenge themselves, develop versatility and confidence, and strengthen the skills needed to become well-rounded performers.

Performance & Opportunities
The Senior Group will work towards performances and showcases alongside workshops, masterclasses and other performance opportunities as AMARA develops.
One of our longer-term ambitions is to prepare the group to audition for the opportunity to perform at Disneyland Paris, giving students something exciting to work towards together while developing the discipline and performance skills required for external performance opportunities.
